Winnsboro Main Street Receives National Accreditation

Having qualified according to the 10 Standards of Performance, Winnsboro Main Street was recommended by The Texas Main Street Program of the Texas Historical Commission for National Accreditation into the National Main Street Center.
Part of the work required by Winnsboro Main Street's prestigious recgonition, involved having strong community support in the commercial district revitalization process, developing a vision and mission statement relevant to the community,devising a comprehensive work plan, maintaining historic preservation, having an active board of director and committees, having an adequate operating budget, employing a program manager, conducted a program of ongoing training for staff and volunteers, and reporting key statistics.
For 35 years, the National Main Street Center led the development of over 2,000-plus historic downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts and has been helping communities revitalize their commercial districts.Through a national collaborative network, they work towards economic development, preservation-based community, and rejuvenation throughout the nation.
