Winnsboro is designated as a State Certified Retirement Community. The Certification indicates that Winnsboro is recognized by the State of Texas as a desirable place for people to Retire and for retirees to visit.
An assessment was conducted on the overall community profile. Winnsboro, Texas has been the only Certified Retirement Community to be featured in the Associated Press.

Economic Development
Winnsboro Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) supports current industries while striving to recruit new ones. Over the past three years, Winnsboro experienced a retail growthh of approximately 40% while adding nearly 100 primary jobs to the community at an unprecedented rate.
The WEDC is competitive and innovative. They have implemented numerous programs and granted over $500,000 in incentives and loans for small businesses and growing industries.

The Main Street Initiative
Since 2003, private and public investments in the downtown business district has exceeded $9 million. Building and business owners take great pride in an active Main Street partnership.
The City of Winnsboro recently received a sidewalk renovation grant to complete the project that was initiated in 2003.
In 2008, the City of Winnsboro designated an Art District within the Main Street area in order to promote and enhance the local Arts. In early 2009, an application was made to the State in order to recognize the district as one of five in Texas. |
